Children and Early Years CALD Outreach Program

Council is committed to ensuring all children have access to high-quality early childhood education and care. Our Children and Early Years CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) Outreach Program supports families from diverse backgrounds to navigate and access early years services and transition smoothly into kindergarten and primary school.
This free outreach service is designed to support children and families from multicultural backgrounds by building confidence, improving access to services, and promoting the importance of early education.
How We Support CALD Families
Our Early Years CALD Outreach Officer works directly with families to help:
- Register and enrol children in kindergarten
- Access key early years services such as:
- Maternal and Child Health
- Immunisation services
- Playgroups
- Multicultural story time sessions
- Understand and engage with the early years learning system
- Prepare children for a positive transition into primary school
- Advocate for families within early years and community services
Why Early Childhood Education Matters
Attending kindergarten regularly helps children develop important skills such as language, social interaction, and emotional regulation. It also prepares them for a successful start in school. For families new to the area or the Australian education system, our outreach program helps build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Who Is This Service For?
This service is available to all families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds living in Greater Shepparton, with children aged 0-6 years.
Whether you’re new to the region, recently arrived in Australia, or simply need extra support to access services for your child, our team is here to help.
