Greater Shepparton City Council CEO Peter Harriott and Kaiela Institute Executive Director Paul Briggs recently swapped positions for a day to gain a greater understanding of the unique challenges that each organisation experiences.
The recent exchange is the first to occur between Council and Kaiela Institute, with Peter Harriott and CEO of Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative, Lee Joachim, undertaking a job swap earlier this year.
“These CEO exchanges continue the aim of enhancing the working relationship between Greater Shepparton organisations and for staff at all levels to feel free to compare work practices, learn from each other and share ideas”, suggests Mr Harriott.
“There are cultural awareness benefits in the closer relationship and opportunities for much improved communication. I thank the staff from both organisations for all of their assistance to allow Paul and myself to undertake the exchange,” said Mr Harriott.
“The exchange is a valuable way to experience the internal mechanics of a complex organisation and a great opportunity to meet key individuals and humanise my relationship with a large infrastructure serving sector of our community. It generated a greater opportunity to know more”, explained Mr Briggs.
