Entries for Greater Shepparton's biggest annual sporting event Challenge Shepparton open Friday March 18 at 6am for individuals and teams.
Triathletes are encouraged to register early and save on entry fees for their chance to compete in the third annual event which, will kick off from Shepparton’s picturesque Victoria Park Lake on Sunday, November 13, 2016.
It is anticipated over 1200 competitors and 3000 to 4000 visitors from around Australia and overseas will converge on Greater Shepparton for this event, providing an estimated economic impact of around $3 million for the region.
The flat and fast 113 km long course event is a major event on the national triathlon calendar and begs of a personal best from experienced athletes. It comprises a 1.9 km swim in Victoria Park Lake, a 90 km ride on picturesque country roads and a three lap 21.1 km run through the event precinct and along the Goulburn River and surrounding areas.
With countless spectator opportunities around the course this makes Challenge Shepparton perfect for those new to long distance or athletes who make the weekend a family getaway and bring their own cheer squad.
In a first for Australian triathlons, Challenge Shepparton is offering entry registration (refund) insurance for entrants. So athletes can enter early, save money and train with peace of mind that they will recover their entry fee if they need to cancel. See Challenge Shepparton website for conditions.
Competitors who register before Thursday, March 31 (midnight) will save $30 and only pay a $330 registration fee which includes the event registration (refund) insurance.
From Friday, April 1 competitors will pay a standard $360 registration fee, including the registration refund insurance policy.
From Thursday, September 1 a late registration fee of $390 will be accepted until Thursday, November 10 or until sold out and also includes the registration refund insurance policy.
The early bird offer for teams is $375.00 (standard refund conditions apply)
