The 2016 Corporate Challenge, a partnership between Greater Shepparton City Council, GV Health and Shepparton Retirement Villages, will officially kick off on Monday 10 October.
More than 1,080 people have signed up to take part, with approximately $15,000 in funds raised being donated to The Community Fund, Shepparton Villages or GV Health.
There will be weekly prizes for teams leading the challenge with the most amount of steps clocked, and the organisation with the most steps clocked in their name at the end of the challenge, will win the Corporate Challenge Cup.
Greater Shepparton City Council Chief Executive Officer Peter Harriott congratulated everyone who has signed up.
“The challenge is a great way for people to get active as well as give back to their community via their entry fee,” Mr Harriott said.
Shepparton Villages Chief Executive Officer Kerri Rivett said the challenge is all about keeping people fit and healthy for life.
“We value our staff and their health is very important to us, so a fun event like this gets everyone focussed and involved and we’re looking forward to taking out the Corporate Challenge Cup!”
GV Health interim Chief Executive Officer, Dr Max Alexander said GV Health encourages its staff and the community to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
“I am delighted that GV Health staff have embraced the opportunity to participate in this fun community challenge, while also helping to raise much-needed funds for the hospital,” said Dr Alexander.
The challenge runs until 7 November 2016, with each organisation coordinating separate events to get participants active and increase their step counts.
