Greater Shepparton City Council has adopted the 2018-2021 Universal Access and Inclusion Plan (UAIP) at Tuesday’s Ordinary Council Meeting.
This plan includes a range of strategies and actions to enhance access to Council services, information, support and infrastructure. Council are committed to the implementation of the plan over the next four years.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said the UAIP was a significant plan for Council.
“Council has an important role to play in supporting the liveability of our municipality for people with a disability. The Universal Access and Inclusion Plan guides the way Council will work to promote and foster inclusion, access and equity for all.”
“The Plan identifies how Council will work towards community members having access to Council facilities, documents and resources and builds on the achievements of previous plans,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
Approximately 12,000 people are living with a disability in Greater Shepparton.
The implementation, revision and evaluation of the Universal Access and Inclusion Plan 2018-2021 will be led by Council and overseen by the Disability Advisory Committee.
