To help residents clean up the results from Tuesday night’s storm before Christmas, Council will provide residents the opportunity to dispose of storm debris, including fallen trees, branches and leaves, from their residential properties free of charge at any Greater Shepparton Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) until Saturday 23 December 2017.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure/City Engineer Phil Hoare said “The storm which hit Tuesday evening has resulted in a significant amount of fallen trees, branches and leaves across the municipality which needs to be cleaned up. Council crews have done a great job so far, however it’s a big task for residents as well. Council will allow residents to dispose of fallen trees and branches free of charge at the Shepparton and Ardmona RRC until Saturday to assist residents tidy up before Christmas. The opportunity will also apply on Sunday for Murchison residents using the Murchison facility.
“Council staff commenced clean up works across the municipality Tuesday evening, and are continuing to clear all roads and remove any fallen trees or debris from roads as its first priority, ensuring all roads are accessible before moving onto other grassed areas. I encourage residents to collect any debris on their nature strip or other areas of their home and dispose of it at their nearest RRC over the next couple of days, ensuring that everyone has a safe and clear home for the Christmas period.
“Residents are encouraged to contact Council’s customer service team on 5832 9700 to report any areas they consider particularly dangerous or needing to be cleared, however Council staff will be progressivly working to remove fallen debris from public land.
“I would like to thank everyone for their patience during the clean up efforts and wish everyone a safe and Merry Christmas,” Mr Hoare said.
