Greater Shepparton City Council and Strathbogie Shire Council launched the Goulburn Valley Regional Collaborative Alliance initiative today.
Goulburn Valley Regional Collaborative Alliance aims to achieve real savings across both Councils by sharing services and resources wherever possible.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Jenny Houlihan said, “this is a fantastic initiative for Strathbogie Shire Council and Greater Shepparton City Council to work together on projects and resources. Our first collaborative project is the ‘Graders without borders’.
The program aims to achieve maximum benefits out of our existing grader network across both Councils through resource sharing such as sharing water trucks and running graders outside of Council boundary lines” said Cr Houlihan.
Mayor Strathbogie Shire Council Deb Swan said, “further projects include sharing other services such as Legal services, the sharing of the council’s organisational development functions and a joint application to the Federal Government for funding to develop bridge management plans.
This Friday a tender will be accepted that will see the councils combine and examine all services that they provide to the community and to develop service plans for each service” said Cr Swan.
‘Graders without borders’ Project will begin shortly with the Greater Shepparton City Council grader commencing at the intersection of McMasters and Dargalong Road in the Strathbogie Shire Council, and the Strathbogie Shire Council grader will be commencing at the intersection of Douglas and Dargalong Road in Murchison East within the Greater Shepparton City Council.
