Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging residents to get out and ‘Discover Your Own Backyard’ to see what is on offer in our own region.
The new local tourism series will be profiled over the next 12 months with Food, Wine and Farmgate the focus of the first topic.
Mayor Jenny Houlihan said “We are inviting local residents to ‘Discover Your Own Backyard’. Go out and discover the fantastic opportunities available in your backyard and learn more about the experiences and attractions available in Greater Shepparton”.
“The first part of the campaign will showcase our local food, wine and farmgate produce. Many residents don’t realise the vast array of food and wine which is grown, produced and available here,” Cr Houlihan said.
“We are encouraging locals to get out and ‘Discover Your Own Backyard’. Why not go for a drive and visit our local wineries and enjoy a cheese platter, or go to some of the farms and purchase local produce to stock up your fridge or pantry? You don’t have to travel to too far to experience great food and wine.”
The official launch of ‘Discover Your Own Backyard’ Food, Wine and Farmgate will be held in conjunction with the Visitor Centre Open Day on Saturday 18 October at the Visitor Centre, Nixon Street, Shepparton from 11am.
