Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Landscape Plan Guide for landscapes in the agricultural floodplains by 3 April. The Draft Landscape Plan Guide is a collaborative project with Campaspe Shire Council, Greater Shepparton City Council, Moira Shire Council and the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.
The Guide will assist private developers and permit applicants in the preparation of informed and sustainable landscape plans across the three municipalities.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development Johann Rajaratnam said landscaping is a very important part of the development process. “It performs an important physical, aesthetic and cultural function in our environment and is a requirement of major urban, industrial and commercial permit applications. The document will also assist in Council’s efforts to provide a greener Shepparton”
“The Draft Guide includes advice on plant species selection, such as low water use natives and indigenous species, and encourages the use of appropriate species for the existing environmental conditions,” said Mr Rajaratnam.
Council is now inviting the public to inspect the Draft Landscape Plan Guide and make a formal submission if there are any further avenues to improve the document. You can inspect the document at the Council offices at 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton.
Submissions must be made in writing, giving the submitter’s name and contact address, clearly stating the grounds on which the Draft Landscape Plan Guide is supported or opposed and indicating what changes (if any) the submitter wishes to make.
A submission should be posted to Greater Shepparton City Council, Locked Bag 1000, Shepparton VIC 3632 and the closing date for submissions is 3 April 2017.
For more information, contact Council’s Strategic Planning Team on (03) 5832 9730.
