Greater Shepparton residents are encouraged to get involved in the 2019 Premier’s Active April Health and Fitness Challenge.
Premier’s Active April encourages all Victorians to commit to doing 30 minutes of physical activity a day during the month of April. It’s free, it’s fun and it’s part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to promote good health and get more people active.
Greater Shepparton City Council is offering participants a number of incentives to get active this April, including:
Once people sign up to Active April, they will need to download a copy of their registration card, print it off and take it with them to redeem at Aquamoves and the Stadium.
Council’s Director Community, Kaye Thomson, encouraged families to get active and make the most of the fantastic health and fitness facilities available.
“Greater Shepparton has plenty of great walking paths and exercise facilities, and I think people would be surprised at just how easy it is to do 30 minutes of exercise,” Ms Thomson said.
“It’s also a great opportunity to exercise with your friends and family members and compare your results against each other at the end of the challenge.”
Local resident Jill Maude, who is also participating in Premier’s Active April, said the challenge can be a great reminder to be physically active every day.
“My family enjoys participating in the Activities in the Park program so we are looking forward to going along to more of the activities while the weather is still warm,” she said.
“We can’t wait to become more familiar with the programs offered at Aquamoves and the Shepparton Sports Stadium by using the free passes. And we are keen to give the new exercise equipment at Victoria Park Lake near the All Abilities Playground a try, so this month seems like a good time to start.”
Premiers Active April offers some great incentives for simply signing up to the challenge, as well a chance to win prizes and weekly email tips on healthy eating and being active.
