Tickets are now available for the 2015 Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee and AllWomenGV International Women’s Day Event, to be held on Sunday 8 March.
To celebrate International Women’s Day the Committee and AllWomenGV are organising a free event at the African Community House in Poplar Avenue Shepparton. The event is open to the entire community, and is supported by Greater Shepparton City Council.
The theme of the event is ‘Local Women Inspiring Change’ which will tie in with the Shepparton Festival theme of ‘Grown, Picked, and Packed’. The event will be a motivating afternoon of fun and networking, whilst providing an opportunity to discover a showcase of diverse produce from local women. The event also features photographs from the AllWomenGV ‘Stand Up and Stand Out’ photography competition, which is a Word and Mouth initiative that is supported by ABC’s Heywire.
The Committee have secured the services of local Aboriginal leader Robynne Nelson of Healing the Spirit Pty Ltd, who will emcee.
Those attending will have the chance to hear from local women who will give insights into their personal and business journeys to success.
Greater Shepparton City Councillor and Committee Member, Dinny Adem is excited about the theme of the forthcoming International Women’s Day event.
“The Greater Shepparton area is fortunate to have local women who are inspiring and achieving amazing things. The Shepparton area is diverse and the talents, backgrounds, and stories of local women are equally as diverse,” Cr Adem said.
“The Committee’s International Women’s Day event is a way to showcase not only the diversity of food products and preparation skills, but to also shine a light on the inspiring entrepreneurial and business skills of women from the local area. International Women’s Day is about promoting and celebrating women’s rights and achievements in all aspects of life, from traditional roles and activities to their equally meritorious involvement in corporate and government leadership roles.”
“I encourage women and men to grab a free ticket and attend this wonderful event.”
The Local Women Inspiring Change International Women’s Day event is alcohol free.
AllWomenGV have a blog at https://allwomengv.wordpress.com/ where images and stories of inspiring local women are shared. The AllWomenGV ‘Stand Up & Stand Out’ photography competition is open until 24 February 2015.
