Greater Shepparton City Council's Active Living Department today launched a special Giving Tree in support of two very special programs.
Located in the Aquamoves foyer, people can now donate new or used sporting equipment to the Sport Equipment Library or make cash donations to the Sporting Chance Program.

It is hoped that these two initiatives will benefit from the spirit of the season and the generosity of the community, leading to a more active and healthy lifestyle for those who otherwise could not participate in sport.
Sporting Chance Program.
The Sporting Chance program wants Greater Shepparton residents to actively participate in sport and recreation, regardless of their means, through access to small grants.
One of the biggest barriers to playing sport for some children, young people and adults is money. Greater Shepparton City Council in partnership with FamilyCare are assisting residents with a sporting chance.
To be eligible, applicants must be:
This offer is designed for individuals. Clubs, businesses and groups are not eligible to apply.
Sporting Chance can fund club membership and/or participation fees up to $250 for approved applicants. Two categories are available:
Sports Equipment Library.
Locals can become a member of the Sports Equipment Library by obtaining a low cost annual membership providing access to a range of sports equipment and games for all ages and abilities.
The project is aligned to the Sporting Chance program, where applicants can elect to become members of the Sports Equipment Library to borrow equipment as opposed to purchasing new equipment, enabling the grant amount to be stretched further.
If you have any unwanted or unused sports equipment that you would like to donate to the Sports Equipment Library you can place it in one of the donation bins found at the following locations:
The Sports Equipment Library is a partnership program between members of the Community Leadership Program and Greater Shepparton City Council's Active Living Department.
