Greater Shepparton City Council is excited to announce a new three year partnership with the Shepparton Festival to strengthen the arts and cultural community in the region.
An iconic event on the Greater Shepparton major events calendar, Shepparton Festival is a two week long event in March which showcases local artists, groups, musicians and more to the community to celebrate the region‘s talents.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said she was excited to see what the partnership can bring to the community.
“For many years as a region we have come together to celebrate our strong arts communities in many ways, this partnership with the Shepparton Festival will further strengthen these endeavors,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“As part of this partnership Council is committed to running the Converge on the Goulburn festival which will kick off the opening weekend of the Shepparton Festival on Saturday 16 March at the Victoria Park Lake.
“This partnership demonstrates Council’s dedication to supporting local arts, music, food and culture and this event is a perfect showcase of the many great things we have to offer.”
Shepparton Festival General Manager Louise Tremper said the success of the festival can be attributed to the amount of support from the community and partners.
“We have strong partnerships with a variety of groups and organisations who develop the great artistic events that contribute to the vibrancy of the festival. We are glad to be partnering up with Greater Shepparton City Council to make this year’s event one to remember,” Ms Tremper said.
“The 2019 Story Bowl theme has stimulated much creativity, with over 60 events across 17 days throughout Greater Shepparton, the festival program offers great diversity in art form and caters for all ages.”
Visitors from the region and beyond attend the March festival annually with 30,000 people expecting to make their way to the region this year to participate in the many events on offer.
“This does wonders for our local community, increasing public engagement, bringing visitors to the region and helping keep local businesses busy,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
