National and international campaign Greater Shepparton… Great Things Happen Here officially announced its partnership with Nitro Athletics Melbourne last Monday at the Lakeside Athletics Stadium in Melbourne.
Olympic Champion Usain Bolt will headline the event, bringing together the world’s best track and field athletes from Australia, England, China, Japan and the rest of the world to compete in an exciting new format.
The Greater Shepparton… Great Things Happen Here campaign will play host to the VIP pavilion, where athletes, attendees and VIPs will experience a taste of the greatness of our region and discover all the opportunities available in Greater Shepparton. Various local produce will be showcased and on offer in the space to provide just a taste of our region.
The partnership also shines light on the alignment between the rise in athletics and the growth in Greater Shepparton’s sporting discipline. With completion nearing of the $21 million redevelopment of the Greater Shepparton Regional Sports Precinct, partnership with this event will enhance Shepparton’s reputation as regional Australia’s sporting capital.
Greater Shepparton City Council and Shepparton Show Me who are behind the national and international campaign are keen to promote the strengths and opportunities available here in Greater Shepparton.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Dinny Adem said our focus on sport is just an example of the great things that happen here in Greater Shepparton.
“There is an alignment between the greatness to be experienced with the Nitro Athletics Carnival and all that is on offer in Greater Shepparton. Through our Greater Shepparton... Great Things Happen Here campaign Council is truly excited to be a partner in this new high energy competition and I thank all involved in bringing this to fruition,” said Cr Adem.
Shepparton Show Me Chairperson Simon Quattrocchi is pleased to be part of this fantastic opportunity.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Greater Shepparton to be part of an event including some of the best athletes in the world including Usain Bolt, all competing in a high energy, high stakes format. To be able to showcase our region as part of this is a great opportunity for Greater Shepparton and I look forward to seeing all the great things that will come of this,” said Mr Quattrocchi.
