Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback into the Draft Community Safety Strategy 2018-2021.
Greater Shepparton City Council is committed to improving the safety of residents and understands that the community’s ideals of safety can cover a variety of topics which are as unique as the community itself.
The Draft Community Safety Strategy 2018-2021 has been developed to build upon the partnerships and initiatives of previous years and address emerging issues identified by stakeholders and the community.
Priorities included within the Draft Community Safety Strategy 2018-2021 as a result of data, consultation and research are:
Greater Shepparton City Council Cr Les Oroszvary said “What I would be asking of the community is for engagement, ownership and input into the strategy, to identify what they consider as priorities for the Community Safety Strategy 2018-21.”
“Ultimately community input has a substantial impact on the end result. In the past this input has resulted in numerous positive outcomes, of note has been the success of the CCTV network. This success could be used as a rationale for an extension of the network. This is but one example of the input. The lighting at the lake is another example whereby community input was acknowledged, listened to and acted upon.
“Greater Shepparton City Council values its residents and their safety," said Cr Oroszvary.
Community feedback is welcomed online on http://greatershepparton.com.au/council/consultation with submissions closing midnight Monday 5 February 2018.
