A new free pilot exercise program, Keeping up with the Kids will be launched in Greater Shepparton on 6 May.
Keeping up with the Kids is targeted at mothers with kids aged under six who live in the Kialla area and aims to increase the physical activity of mothers in line with the Australian Physical Activity guidelines which states adults should undertake up to 300 minutes of moderate exercise, such as walking per week.
Participants will be able to take part in activities they choose as well as join in group activities and nutrition sessions.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Acting Manager Active Living Anthony Nicolaci encouraged people to get involved in the program.
“Aside from improving physical health and wellbeing, we also want to educate people as to what facilities are available and how you can access them,” Mr Nicolaci said.
“We have identified a range of activities participants might be interested in such as joining a social netball or tennis competition, walking group, beach volleyball, 7 Week Challenge, boot camp or meditation/yoga classes through Aquamoves.
“You will be fully supported by qualified staff and by your peers and all activities will be free.”
“If you are interested, I encourage you to get in touch with the team at Aquamoves or join the Keeping up with the Kids Facebook group.”
For more information, join the Keeping up with the Kids Facebook group or contact Aquamoves Lakeside Shepparton on (03) 58329 400 or email customerservice@aquamoves.com.au
