Local groups invited to connect with young people at Connecting Youth EXPO'26

Tuesday 16th of June, 2026,
Local clubs and community organisations are being invited to help connect young people with opportunities across Greater Shepparton, with Expressions of Interest now open for the Connecting Youth EXPO'26.
The free community event will be held on Saturday 5 September 2026 from 10am to 2pm at the Pavilion, Shepparton Showgrounds.
Designed for young people aged 12 to 25 and their families, the expo will showcase local opportunities in sport, recreation, creativity, volunteering, culture and wellbeing, helping attendees connect directly with clubs and services. Stall holders are encouraged to provide interactive activities, demonstrations and hands-on experiences that give young people the chance to try something new and learn more about opportunities available across the region.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the expo would be a valuable opportunity for clubs and organisations to engage directly with young people and families.
“Connecting Youth EXPO'26 is a fantastic opportunity for young people to discover what’s available right here in Greater Shepparton. From creative pursuits to sporting clubs and support services, this event brings everything together in one place,” he said.
“We know when young people feel connected and supported, they are more likely to thrive. Events like this help build confidence, encourage participation and create a stronger, more inclusive community.”
Shepparton Education Plan Senior Project Officer, Kerri Symes, said connection and belonging are an important part of supporting young people to thrive in their community.
“Connection is at the heart of every young person’s wellbeing and this event is all about making that connection happen,” she said.
“We are bringing together the region's diverse and inclusive clubs and organisations under one roof, giving young people the chance to discover their passion, find their people, and feel truly at home in their community."
Valley Sport Executive Officer, Megan Carr, said the expo would play an important role in helping young people build connections within their community.
“The Connecting Youth EXPO'26 provides a valuable opportunity for young people to connect with activities, groups and services where they can develop a sense of belonging and community,” she said.
“At Valley Sport, we recognise the important role that connection and inclusion play in supporting positive health and wellbeing outcomes for young people.”
“We encourage groups and organisations to submit an Expression of Interest to be involved in the expo and help create meaningful opportunities and connections for local youth.”
Organisations interested in hosting a stall are encouraged to apply now. EOIs close Friday 10 July 2026.
The Connecting Youth EXPO'26 is supported by Greater Shepparton City Council, the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project, the Shepparton Education Plan, the Victorian Government’s Amplify program, Goulburn Valley Water and Valley Sport.
