UPDATE: Greater Shepparton City Council Maintenance department wishes to advise that after days of safety inspections, both the Toolamba bridge and Watt Road bridge are now open to traffic.
Council thanks local motorists for their patience and understanding while these important checks took place.
LOCAL TRAFFIC ADVICE: Bridge Road Toolamba Closure published 21 June 2017
Bridge Road Toolamba will be closed today between Wren street and Newnham Road from 9.15 am until 2.30 pm on Wednesday June 21, and from 8.00am until 5.00pm on Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd due to bridge repairs.
Bridge Update - Work ahead of schedule, Toolamba open earlier published 16 June 2017
The work on the Watt Road bridge is ahead of schedule and the bridge will re-open earlier on Wednesday 21 June.
The contractor can then move onto the Toolamba Road Bridge around midday on Wednesday. The Toolamba Road bridge may need to be closed for a short period of time on Wednesday but it will be opened at 2:30pm to cater for school bus runs.
Toolamba Bridge and Watt Road Bridge Closures - published 16 June 2017
Greater Shepparton City Council wishes to advise the community of two short term bridge closures starting next week, including both Toolamba Bridge and Watt Road Bridge in Mooroopna in order to facilitate works.
Toolamba Bridge on Bridge Road will be closed to traffic on Thursday 22 June and Friday 23 June from 8:00am to 5:00pm to facilitate detailed structural inspections of the bridge.
Watt Road Bridge in Mooroopna will be closed to traffic on Tuesday 20 June and Wednesday 21 June from 8:00am to 5:00pm similarly to facilitate detailed structural inspections of the bridge.
Both the detailed structural inspections of the bridges are in addition to the routine inspections and are required to inform the scope of work for the rehabilitation of the bridges, scheduled to be undertaken in the 2017/18 financial year subject to funding and the sourcing of a suitably qualified experienced contractor to undertake the works.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Acting Director Infrastructure Michael Freeman apologised for any inconvenience to users and encourages residents to report any actions that fail to adhere to the closures to the Police or Council.
