Greater Shepparton City Council has completed replacement of Locky’s Bridge and it is now opened to traffic. Works began in May and have been completed a month ahead of schedule.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said “Council and its contractor DC Projects Pty Ltd, have worked well to deliver this project ahead of schedule. I am sure the residents and community in and around Riverview Drive will appreciate having use of the bridge functional again.” The cost of the works was approximately $345,000 which was funded as part of Council’s capital works program.
“Council is working with the Collins family to organise a memorial in memory of the late Lachlan Collins, who tragically drowned at the site. This will be located near the bridge.”
“Council has delivered another significant asset within our road network, enabling better access for residents and emergency services.” said Mr Hoare. He also thanked the local residents for their understanding and cooperation over this period of time.
