Greater Shepparton City Council is asking residents to vote on their favourite design for the Sir Murray Bourchier memorial. The new memorial is to be located at Queens Gardens in Shepparton.
The memorial designs are available to be viewed online at http://www.greatershepparton.com.au/sir-murray-bourchier-memorial
or at the Council offices. Council has three possible design options for residents to view and to vote for their favourite option.
Sir Murray Bourchier was enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in August 1914. He led the charge at the Battle of Beersheba. In 1920 he entered the Legislative Assembly as the Victorian Farmers’ Union Member for Goulburn Valley. Between 1924-35 he was unopposed as the Country Party Member. Sir Murray Bourchier later died in London in December 1937.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Jenny Houlihan said “The Shepparton RSL and Council have jointly established the Bourchier Memorial Working group to pursue the commissioning of an appropriate memorial to Sir Murray Bourchier, a renowned pastoralist, solider and statesman from the Goulburn Valley “
“The project would help to recognise the great work of Sir Murray Bourchier, and what a better way to recognise his work by creating a lasting memorial. We suggest that people become involved by voting for their favourite design before 8 August,” said Cr Houlihan.
To view the three design options at:

or at the Council offices, 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton until Friday 8 August, 2014.
