Greater Shepparton City Council has been successful in receiving funding for Kialla Park Recreation Reserve female-friendly sport facilities.
Member for Northern Victoria, Mark Gepp announced yesterday that the State Government is contributing$293,733 from the Female Friendly Facilities Fund towards the renovation, extension and upgrade of existing change rooms to provide female friendly access, including a female friendly umpires wing and shower/toilet areas.
Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said “This boost will enable Greater Shepparton City Council to progress this project.”
“The project will provide female friendly change facilities, which will facilitate new programming opportunities for female players and teams. Every player deserves equal access to high quality facilities and these grants will benefit everyone who participates in sport and active recreation in the area,” she said.
Shepparton Bears Women’s football team (Premier’s 2018) will be a huge winner from this project with purpose built change rooms, an umpire’s wing which will also be female friendly and club storage for equipment.
Old Students Cricket Club will also be able to cater for female players either junior or senior once this project is complete.
The upgrades will link in with the full oval redevelopment project happening this year, and the new sports floodlighting project which is underway through funding from Country Football Netball program.
