Greater Shepparton City Council has a number of casual positions opening within the Works and Waste department and is holding two open days for interested people on Friday 3 August and Monday 6 August at the Doyles Road Complex.
This is the fourth and fifth open day that Council has run at the Doyles Road Complex with several new apprentices and staff being employed as a result.
Greater Shepparton City Council Manager Works and Waste, Maree Walker said “The open day provides an opportunity for potential employees to see what is involved in working with Council in the Works and Waste teams.”
“The attendees will participate in a whole lot of hands-on activities, anything from using hand tools, meeting current employee’s and tips and tricks on how to put together a job application. It’s actually a lot of fun and we make sure everyone feels comfortable and gets as much as possible out of the day.”
“Ultimately, we are looking for people with a good work ethic and how they interact in a team. They don’t necessarily have to have all the technical skills as we can teach them that, but we want to provide an opportunity for people from all backgrounds to apply for a job at Council.”
Manager People and Development, Karen Liversidge said Council has a Gender Equity strategy and also supports those from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds to apply.
“We are very keen to show that Council is committed to equal opportunities for our community and we encourage diversity in all forms. It is our goal to be an employer of choice in the region and these open days really showcase what career options are available.
Works & Waste Open Day
Due to the overwhelming response to attend the Works & Waste Open Day we have reached capacity for the event and are no longer able to accept any further expressions of interest to attend.
