More than 1000 ratepayers have already signed up to enjoy the benefits of Council’s newly introduced 10 monthly payment option.
Greater Shepparton Director Business Justin Finlayson said that this new payment option had been well received by ratepayers and allows ratepayers to spread their rate payments over ten monthly payments, commencing from September each year.
"As a result of the positive take-up from ratepayers Council is allowing the first payment to be made manually and will accept applications to pay by this new method up until Tuesday 22 October," Mr Finlayson said
"The second of the ten monthly payments is due to be debited from ratepayers' nominated bank accounts on Friday 25 October.
"Once established, the Direct Debit system continues year after year until a ratepayer chooses to stop the arrangement.
"If you are having trouble paying your rates by the due date, please contact Council and have a chat to our staff who will work out an alternate arrangement with you."
For those people who choose to pay their rates by four quarterly instalments, the first payment is due by Friday 11 October.
For people paying their rates in a lump sum payment, the due date for payment is 17 February 2014.
An extensive range of payment methods are offered, including online at www.greatershepparton.com.au, or in person at Council's Welsford Street Office.
For more information contact Council on (03) 5832 9700.
