Greater Shepparton City Council has partnered with the Reconciliation Group and the Ethnic Council to organise the Respecting Difference Forum to be held Wednesday 25 June at 6pm at the Rumbalara Football & Netball club.
The forum will discuss experiences of discrimination, provide factual information to address these concerns and inform the community of the current changes to the Racial Discrimination Act.
Mayor Jenny Houlihan said “A forum was held last year and there was an excellent response, so Council has partnered with the Ethnic Council and Reconciliation Group to ensure it happened again this year”.
“The forum is open for anyone to attend the interactive sessions to provide community members a safe environment to ask questions, and share stories about experiences of discrimination and express concerns,” said Cr Houlihan.
The forum will be facilitated by Cath Sedunary from the Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission with panel members from a number of organisations and will include an interactive Q&A answer session.
