Greater Shepparton City Council will be carrying out road maintenance works in Lightfoot Street, Shepparton commencing Thursday 15 June.
Council Officers have undertaken investigative excavation works in Lightfoot Street to determine the cause of a recently formed depression in the street and determined that further works are required.
Residents may recall that significant excavation and re-compaction works were undertaken in this area in October 2016 to repair a sink hole (see below for image). It is unknown at this stage the cause of the latest subsidence. The works being undertaken on Thursday will enable officers to better assess if there has been an ingress of water into the material under the road surface and undertake the appropriate repairs.
The works will include removing the surface of the roadway and excavation of the gravel sub-base material under the road.
The works will be located in the roadway in front of 19 Lightfoot Street Shepparton and are likely to cause some disruption to local traffic. Council Officers will make every effort to minimise disruption, however this section of the road may need to be closed to accommodate the works.
Changes to traffic conditions will be communicated through road signage and local media outlets.
Council staff will make contact with residents directly impacted by the works regarding access to and from their properties.
If you require any further information please contact Road Maintenance on 5832 9700.
