If you're travelling over Easter, Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging road users to take advantage of the VICSES Driver Reviver site.
Your family will thank you when you arrive alive this Easter. So make sure you plan to take a rest if you are driving long distances over the Easter break.
Driver Reviver sites operating in North East Victoria, Easter weekend:
Friday, 14 April 2017 (Midnight to 2pm)
Friday, 14 April 2017 (2pm to 7pm)
Saturday, 15 April 2017 (9am - 1pm)
Thursday, 13 April 2017 24hrs (12pm to 12am)
Friday, 14 April 2017 (12am to 12pm)
Victoria State Emergency Service (SES) Volunteers and the Lions Club will conduct Driver Reviver sites on the Hume Freeway and Goulburn Valley Highway over the Easter weekend to help motorists reach their destinations safely.
If you are travelling in other parts of Victoria details of Driver Reviver stops are listed here.
Fatigue is one of the big killers on Victorian roads and Driver Reviver sites offer a place for motorists and passengers to take a break and enjoy a free cup of tea or coffee and some biscuits.
Assistant Chief Officer Keith O’Brien reminds people Easter is a busy time with significant amounts of traffic on the road, it is a time to take care and avoid the deadly killer fatigue. SES voulunteers would rather see you at a rest stop than an accident.
The Driver Reviver campaign has been operating for 26 years with one objective: to reduce road collisions by alleviating driver fatigue. SES and Lions volunteers contribute thousands of hours each year towards providing Driver Reviver as a way to reduce driver fatigue and resulting car crashes. The simple message is “Stop, revive and arrive alive”.
