Works to demolish the former Visitor Information Centre at Victoria Park lake will commence tomorrow, after the building was destroyed by fire last year.
It is anticipated that works to demolish the building will be completed by the end of the week. The car parking area behind the building will be fenced off while the demolition takes place.
Once the demolition is complete, landscaping will commence in preparation for the installation of a number of popular Moooving Art cows as a colourful welcome to Shepparton. Signage will also be in place directing people to the Visitor Centre in Nixon Street.
Greater Shepparton City Council's Director Community Kaye Thomson said the new centre was proving popular with visitors and locals alike and that planning continues for a long term location for the Visitor Centre.
"We have received very positive feedback from customers and members of the public about the new Visitor Centre in Nixon Street, however we are also planning for the long term future of the centre," Ms Thomson said.
Brochures and maps outlining the new location of the Visitor Centre and services provided have been distributed to accommodation and tourism businesses in the Greater Shepparton area to ensure visitors to the area can easily access the centre.
Greater Shepparton receives close to 1 million visitors annually and operates one of regional Victoria's level one visitor information centres.
The Visitor Centre is located at 33 Nixon Street Shepparton.
