The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee (GSWCAAC) is encouraging members of the Greater Shepparton community to nominate yourself or an individual who has made a difference to women and the community for the GSWCAAC Women’s Award. The purpose of the Award is to recognise women who make a difference to the community in which they live and whose actions positively impact upon women within the Greater Shepparton area.
Nominations will be judged based on criteria including how the nominee made a difference to the community; particularly within the Greater Shepparton area, how the nominee has acknowledged and embraced diversity and how the nominee inspired and encouraged women.
Greater Shepparton City Council Team Leader Community Strengthening Rachael Duncombe believes recognising people and groups who have made a positive difference to women’s lives is important.
“The GSWCAAC is aware that there is a lot of great work going on in the community that has a positive impact on women. The Committee wants to acknowledge this work and highlight the efforts of people within the community, in the hope that it will inspire others.
“If residents know someone they believe has made a difference to the community and encouraged women in Greater Shepparton I encourage them to nominate that person for the award, so that we can acknowledge and recognise these great individuals,” said Ms Duncombe.
The GSWCAAC is an Advisory Committee of the Greater Shepparton City Council and is part of a broader network of councils supporting the Victorian Local Government Women’s Charter.
The GSWCAAC is made up of community members and, with Council support, aims to increase women’s participation in key decision making forums, opportunities for women, gender equity and diversity.
Nomination forms and further information about the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee Women’s Award can be found on our website.
Nominations forms can also be obtained at the Greater Shepparton City Council Offices, 90 Welsford Street or by contacting Council on (03) 5832 9700, or by email women@shepparton.vic.gov.au
Nominations close on 17 January 2018.
