The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee (GSWCAAC) is calling for nominations from local residents who are interested in becoming a member of the Committee.
The GSWCAAC is made up of 15 community members and up to five representatives from Greater Shepparton City Council including a Councillor as the Charter Champion.
The volunteer committee aims to promote women in leadership and decision making. A three point action plan focussing on Diversity, Active Citizenship and Gender Equity guides the strategic objectives of the committee.
The committee is active in the community and has recently (sometimes in conjunction with other groups/organisations) achieved the following:
Charter Champion and Councillor Dinny Adem encourages both women and men to apply.
“The Committee is committed and passionate about making a difference for women. Being a part of the Committee is rewarding and can help individuals gain skills whilst making a difference,” said Cr Adem.
“One of the key principles of the Committee is diversity, so the Committee aims to have membership that reflects the diverse community of Greater Shepparton. It is important that the voices of women as well as men are heard regarding the opportunities and issues affecting women in Greater Shepparton.”
Memberships are for a two year period. Current members whose memberships are due to expire at the end of the 2014/2015 financial year are able to reapply.
