Greater Shepparton City Council’s Word and Mouth and the Ethnic Council are proud to present “Girls Night In” aimed at bridging the gap between cultures and backgrounds, as well as being a great evening of pampering, girls activities and ultimately fun.
The event is on Saturday November 10 from 6-10pm at the Macintosh Centre at the Shepparton Showgrounds and is aimed at females from age 12 plus.
“This event is a fantastic opportunity for girls and young women of Greater Shepparton to come and learn more about each other, as well as having some fun, all for free,” said Project Manager at Word and Mouth, Jim Gow. “We continue to engage young people by putting on a variety of events in Greater Shepparton. Too often we hear that there is nothing to do in the area for our youth and we are constantly looking to change that.”
The event will include activities such as henna painting, braiding and dancing as well as featuring a DJ creating some fantastic music for the girls to enjoy and much more.
This event is the result of a youth committee, the WAM Army, who are keen and dedicated to providing activities for our regional youth. ”Each Word and Mouth event or activity is driven by that committee, both in the planning and volunteering on the day,” said Mr Gow. “They meet weekly to work out what the young people of Greater Shepparton need and want. This event is about bridging the cultural gaps and building better social cohesion for our community, regardless of age.”
This event also leads into a very busy period for Word and Mouth over the next couple of months, with planning for next year’s events starting early, as well as recruiting young people for the WAM Army for 2019.
These are FreeZa assisted events. FReeZA is a Victorian Government program that supports young Victorians to get involved in community life by planning and running drug, smoke and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people.
The event starts at 6pm and ends at 10pm. All Word and Mouth events are fully supervised, and are drug, smoke and alcohol free events. This is a women / girls only event.
