Word and Mouth is proud to present “Remastered”; their final event for young locals this Sunday from 5pm in Shepparton's Queens Gardens.
This free event, while aimed at people aged 12-25, is open to everyone keen to watch Shepparton’s young and talented musicians on display.
“This event is fantastic for the people of Shepparton due to the high interest they have with music,” said Jim Gow, Project Manager at Word and Mouth. “We continue to engage young people by putting on a range of events in Greater Shepparton. Nearly weekly we hear that there is nothing to do in the area for our youth and we are constantly looking to change that.”
This event is new, and a blend of both the Push Start competition and such events as “Live at the Park”, and if successful could be an annual event. The featured songs on the day will consist of a nice healthy helping of 80’s and 90’s music, with five rounds in the competition. The lowest score in each round will drop out of the competition, with the catch being the songs; the songs are preselected to a point; and are all from the 80’s and 90’s, featuring even an Aussie Round.
The band gets to choose from a list, each with five songs for each round, total 25 songs, encouraging each bands/performers interpretation of the song. Speed it up, strip it back, slow it down, whatever you like. Three judges will score each performance, and as stated earlier, lowest score is out, and then in Round Two for example, there is only four performers, etc.
Behind each event sits a committee of 22, aged 12-25, who are keen and dedicated to providing activities for our regional youth. ”Each activity is driven by that committee,” Mr. Gow said, “and they meet weekly to work out what the young people of Greater Shepparton need and want, giving all of their time voluntarily. This event has been in high demand since the same time last year. Music events are always very popular.”
This is a FreeZa assisted event. FReeZA is a Victorian Government program that supports young Victorians to get involved in community life by planning and running drug, smoke and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people.
"Remastered" - Queens Gardens, Welsford St Shepparton, Sunday 4 December, from 5-8pm. Free entry.
This is a family friendly event, with people encouraged to either pack a picnic or just the rug and support Kiwanis Shepparton, who will be holding a barbeque.

All Word and Mouth events are fully supervised, and are drug, smoke and alcohol free events.
