Greater Shepparton City Council invites residents to join the celebration, connect with nature and grow together at this year’s National Tree Day event on Sunday 27 July 2025.
In Summary
Established in 1996, National Tree Day has blossomed into Australia’s largest community-driven tree planting and environmental care event. Since its inception, more than 27 million trees have been planted nationwide, with over five million volunteers generously contributing 10 million hours to grow a greener future.
The 2025 celebration will take place at Chivalry Drive, Mooroopna, Sunday 27 July from 10am to 12pm. Council staff and dedicated volunteers will be on hand to guide participants throughout the morning. All necessary materials, including plants, stakes, guards, mats, gloves, and tools will be provided.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged families and individuals to take part in the event.
“We invite community members to come along with the family, dig in and enjoy a day outside at the National Tree Day event in Mooroopna,” he said.
“Planting a tree is a small act with a lasting impact. It’s a fantastic way to give back to the community and to show younger generations the value of a healthy environment.”
Attendees will be able to enjoy a free BBQ, as well as the opportunity to purchase hot drinks from a coffee van.
There will be native plant giveaways on the day. Community members are encouraged to pre-register through the website.
