Greater Shepparton City Council is undertaking significant upgrades at the Shepparton Sports Stadium to enhance the stadium’s amenities and overall experience for user groups.
In Summary
Major amenity upgrades are underway at the Shepparton Sports Stadium to enhance accessibility, safety and the overall user experience.
Works include new flooring, lighting, air-conditioned change rooms, refurbished toilets and showers, and fresh painting throughout the facility.
The $3 million project is fully funded by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions under the Council Support Package.
Stage one is now complete, with stage two commencing mid-January 2026 and due for completion by the end of March 2026.
The amenity upgrades, involving new vinyl flooring, new toilet and shower cubicles, air-conditioned change rooms, new improved lighting and painting throughout, will provide re-constructed amenities for a better user experience in a more vibrant and safe space.
The works form part of a $3 million fully funded package by the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions, under the Council Support Package.
The works are being delivered in two stages to ensure a smooth transition and minimal disruption, with stage one already complete.
Stage one involved the southern block of amenities near the stadium entrance, with visitors now able to utilise the new facilities. Stage two, involving the northern block of amenities, will commence mid-January 2026 with completion by the end of March 2026. Stadium users will have access to the southern amenity blocks whilst stage two works are underway.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said the amenity enhancements were a welcome addition to the facility which caters to thousands of users each week.
“The upgrades are designed to improve accessibility, ensuring a better experience for all stadium users. The completed stage one works are already being utilised, and we look forward to seeing stage two completed by the end of March 2026,” he said.
“These upgrades deliver a more user friendly and accessible space for all sports groups and visitors. The enhancements increase the stadium’s capacity to host elite sporting events and higher-level community competitions, which in turn provides a welcome boost to our local economy.”
Cr Steven Threlfall, McEwen Ward, said the upgrades reflect Council’s commitment to improving accessibility and modernising facilities.
“Sport is a wonderful way to engage our youth, build confidence, and foster healthy habits. By investing in modern, accessible facilities, we’re ensuring that young people in Greater Shepparton have the best possible environment to train, compete, and thrive,” he said.
“These amenity upgrades strengthen our capacity to host major events while ensuring local clubs and community groups have the facilities they deserve.”
