Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali encouraged interested community members to apply.
“Serving on an advisory committee is a great opportunity for residents to play an active role in shaping the future of our region. It’s a chance to share ideas, influence decisions and help guide the direction of Council programs and initiatives,” he said.
Council adopted updated Terms of Reference for the Committee at its November Council Meeting on Tuesday and following this, applications from interested community members to fill five vacant committee positions are now being called for.
RiverConnect Community Advisory Committee Councillor Representative, Cr Steven Threlfall, McEwen Ward, said the committee helps guide how the community connects with the river system.
“Greater Shepparton is surrounded by a rich river environment. This committee oversees the strategic planning for how our community engages with and embraces our natural environment, whilst encouraging the community to enjoy our great outdoors,” he said.
This is a voluntary role and involves meeting for two hours every two months to help guide the implementation of the RiverConnect Strategic Plan.
Applications are encouraged from individuals who value and have an interest in the local river environment, and who wish to contribute to the long-term stewardship and success of the RiverConnect program.
