Greater Shepparton City Council is inviting Mooroopna residents and businesses to attend a community information session regarding Stage 2 of the Lenne Street Drainage Upgrade.
In Summary
The information session will be held on Monday 30 June 2025, from 5.00pm to 6.30pm at the Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre (MEAC).
Following the October 2022 flood event, Council identified a need to improve the stormwater network in the Lenne Street catchment to better manage future weather events. The drainage improvement works have been split into two stages, with Stage 1 currently underway and nearing completion.
Stage 2 of the project includes a number of key upgrades:
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged residents to attend the session to learn more about what’s ahead.
“This is a significant project for Mooroopna, helping to reduce the risk of future flooding and increase resilience in our community,” he said.
“We know the impact the 2022 floods had on residents and we are committed to ensuring we build back better, with improved infrastructure that supports the safety and wellbeing of the area. I encourage residents to attend the information session to hear more about the project and ask questions directly.”
Council is planning to advertise the construction tender in July 2025, with the contract to be awarded by September and works expected to be completed by June 2026, weather permitting. Residents can expect regular updates as the project progresses.
Stage 1 of the upgrade has included underground drainage works through Howe and Lenne Streets, new kerb and channel in Howe Street, and substantial progress across reserves 2, 3 and 4. These works are partially funded through Emergency Management Victoria under the Disaster Management Fund.
For more information, or if you are unable to attend the session, contact Council’s Projects Team on (03) 5832 9700 or email projects@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
