The opportunity to provide feedback on the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 closes this Friday, and Greater Shepparton City Council is reminding residents to have their say before the closing date.
In Summary
Council develops a Revenue and Rating Plan every four years to determine the most appropriate and affordable revenue and rating approach for the municipality. The services and infrastructure which Council provides to its community are essential to the development, growth, sustainability and future of the region, and rates provide a significant source of funding to enable this continued growth within the municipality.
The Revenue and Rating Plan outlines how rates will be distributed amongst ratepayers; includes details in relation to payment options, rebates, interest and financial hardship; and addresses other sources of revenue including user fees and charges, grants and contributions.
The draft plan was developed following initial community consultation, and has since been released for further consultation for three weeks to allow the community to have a read and provide their feedback.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged residents to visit the Shaping Greater Shepp website to have their say.
“The Revenue and Rating Plan is an important document for Council. It determines how rate revenue can be distributed in the fairest and most equitable way across properties within the municipality, and how fees and charges can be determined,” he said.
“This is the last chance for community members to have their say on the draft document, before it is finalised and presented to Council at the June Council Meeting. I encourage everyone to have their say now.”
Read the Draft Revenue and Rating Plan 2025-2029 and have your say here before 5pm on Friday 16 May.
