From ideas to action – Council’s Community Grants open soon

Applications for Round One of Greater Shepparton’s 2025/2026 Community Grants Program open Monday 14 July 2025 at 9.00am.
A wide range of grant categories are available, supporting community events, arts, heritage, sport, inclusion and more.
An online information session will be held Monday 21 July 2025 to guide applicants through the process and provide grant writing tips.

Council offers a range of grant categories to support grassroots initiatives that enrich the local community, promote inclusion, foster creativity, and encourage participation. The following grants are available:

Access and Inclusion Grant – Up to $1,500 for inclusive community projects supporting people with disabilities, their families, and carers.
Community Matching Grant – Up to $5,000 to support one-off community projects that build social connections, encourage participation and revitalise spaces.
Small Town Australia Day Grant – Up to $3,000 to support small town Australia Day events between 24–29 January 2026.
Creative City Grant – $1,000 to $5,000 for artists, creatives and community groups delivering local arts and cultural projects.
Heritage Conservation Grant – Up to $15,000 for works that preserve, restore or enhance heritage properties.
International Women’s Day Grant – $500 to $1,500 for events held in March 2026 recognising the contributions of women in our community.
Minor and Major Event Grants – Minor: $500 to $2,000 | Major: $2,000 to $5,000 for events that promote community spirit, inclusion, wellbeing and regional visitation.
Our Sporting Future Fund – Up to $30,000 for community sporting projects and initiatives that support growth and development.
Seniors Festival Grant – Up to $500 for activities held during October 2025 that promote positive ageing and social connection.
Small Town Festive Event Grant – $500 to $2,500 to support festive and Christmas events in small towns (populations under 10,000).

To support potential applicants, Council will host a Community Grants Online Information Session on Monday 21 July 2025, from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. The session will provide practical advice on how to apply, guidance on grant writing, and details about each program. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions and speak with Council officers directly. Register for the online information session here.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged local organisations and community groups to consider how the grants could support their initiatives.

“These grants are a fantastic opportunity for organisations and community groups to bring their ideas to life. Whether it’s hosting an inclusive event, improving a facility, or celebrating local culture and heritage, Council is proud to support the great work being done in our region,” he said.

“We know these grants have a real impact on the ground, and I urge eligible groups to get their applications in before the deadline.”

Applications open at 9.00am on Monday 14 July 2025 and close at 12.00pm on Monday 18 August 2025. Late submissions will not be accepted.
