Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce that Greater Shepparton has been selected by the University of Canberra to participate in a groundbreaking project to develop a regional wellbeing framework, a significant step towards placing community wellbeing at the centre of local decision-making.
In Summary
Funded by the Gardiner Foundation and delivered by the University of Canberra in partnership with the University of Southern Queensland, the “Building Wellbeing into Regional Decision-Making” project will support Greater Shepparton to define, measure and embed what matters most to the local community.
As part of the project, expressions of interest are now open for the Implementing Wellbeing Leadership Program, a free, place-based course designed for local community leaders, volunteers and advocates who are passionate about creating positive change.
The program offers participants a unique opportunity to develop skills in understanding and using wellbeing data, while connecting with others committed to building a stronger, healthier Greater Shepparton.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, welcomed the announcement and encouraged community members to consider applying.
“We are proud to be part of this important national initiative that puts people and place at the heart of decision-making,” he said.
“Greater Shepparton is known for its resilience and community spirit, and this project builds on that strength. By empowering local leaders with tools and training, we are helping shape a future that reflects the values and priorities of our people.”
“Whether you are involved in sport, health, culture, business or volunteering, your voice matters. I encourage anyone with a passion for our region’s future to get involved.”
Applications for the Implementing Wellbeing Leadership Program close Thursday 13 June 2025.
