Greater Shepparton City Council’s Word and Mouth, partnering with Victoria Police, is again heading out to speak with and educate young people at schools to warn them of the dangers of the drugs, in particular Ice, or crystal methamphetamine.
“This project is an important investment into the future of our young people locally,” said Project Manager at Word and Mouth, Jim Gow. “This is our sixth year of educating our young people around the dangers of the horrific drug. We continue to engage young people in schools, and have great relationships with all the local schools and alternative education settings.”
In the six years that Word and Mouth and Victoria Police have partnered for these school tours, Mr Gow has spoken to in excess of 8,000 young people locally. “We have spoken to people in Greater Shepparton as well as other regions, in several different schools, and at various age levels.”
Starting this week and concluding in a month, Word and Mouth and Victoria Police will visit several education settings to spread the word about this issue.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s youth organisation, Word and Mouth are also known for the events they put on for the young people of Greater Shepparton, including events such as NerdMania, Battle of the Bands and DeadzTown, which returns on 26 September.
