Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to introduce an optional upsize to a 360L yellow recycling bin, offering residents who generate larger quantities of recyclable materials more convenience and the ability to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.
For residential properties to request an upsize to a 360L recycling bin, property owners, listed rate-payers, or managing agents must initiate the process. The verification process will follow the same procedure as a standard ‘Exchange Bin’ request.
While the upsize to a 360L recycling bin comes with a one-off administrative fee of $37.00, there will be no additional charge for the 2023-2024 financial year. The collection service charge for the 360L recycling bin will be reviewed as part of the annual budgeting process in the next financial year.
It is essential for residents to consider the size and weight of the 360L bin, which measures 1100mm in height and 680mm in width. These larger bins may be challenging for some residents to move when filled. Residents are encouraged to assess their ability to handle the larger bin before requesting an upsize.
Council’s Director Infrastructure, Gary Randhawa, said Council is committed to supporting the community’s recycling efforts.
"Recycling is an essential component of our sustainable waste management practices. By diverting recyclable materials from landfill, we not only protect our environment but also promote a circular economy by encouraging the reuse of materials,” he said.
Requests for an upsize can be submitted through Council’s online enquiry form or by contacting Council’s Customer Service on 5832 9700.
Delivery of the larger 360L recycling bins to residents will begin from Thursday 9 November 2023.
For any questions or further information regarding the 360L upsize, please contact Council by phoning 5832 9700 or emailing council@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
