Are you passionate about Climate Change? Do you want to lead the Change? Are you aged between 12 and 25 years? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Climate Change Youth Leadership Program is for you!
Greater Shepparton City Council is leading the Victorian Government funded Climate Change Youth Leadership Program in partnership with Benalla Shire Council and Strathbogie Shire Council. The program aims to facilitate leadership opportunities in climate action for young people aged 12-25 years from within the municipalities of Greater Shepparton, Benalla and Strathbogie. The program will develop advocacy skills in young people to continue to lead climate and environmental action in their communities.
The first step of the program is to form a Climate Change Youth Leadership Group of up to fifteen young people. This group will plan and lead a community forum, involving young people and industry professionals to develop local initiatives to respond to climate change.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said “our young people have led the way in climate change and continue to show the community the importance of making changes now. Council is thrilled to be working with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning on this important project. I encourage all young people to consider submitting an expression of interest for this program.”
Expressions of Interest for the Climate Change Youth Leadership Group are open now and close on 23 May 2022 via Shaping Greater Shepparton Young people aged between 12-25 years who are interested in climate change are encouraged to apply. Further information or support with applying can be provided by contacting Youth Officer – Astrid on 5832 9700 or email youth@shepparton.vic.gov.au
