Greater Shepparton City Council advises installation of festive decorations will begin today, Monday 16 November.
The first festive decorations for the season will be set up at Monash Park, with large baubles in the gum tree ready to start the Christmas cheer.
This year, Council has teamed up with local primary schools and Kaiela Arts to repurpose the ‘present boxes’.
Previously, the boxes had been displayed as plain wooden present boxes, but this year they will be decorated by students from 16 schools in Greater Shepparton’s rural and small towns and also Kaiela Arts.
Residents can expect Christmas decorations in the Maude Street Mall, Queen’s Gardens, Victoria Park Lake, Monash Park and also throughout Mooroopna, Tatura, Toolamba, Dookie and Tallygaroopna.
All Christmas decorations including two Giant Santa’s along with baubles, Christmas trees, rotunda decorations, a Santa’s mail box, reindeers, LED stars, light post decorations and more will be on display by 27 November.
Council’s Festive Decorations Officer Kristie Welch said residents should keep an eye out for the decorations as Christmas is fast approaching.
“If you haven’t got started on the Christmas shopping, you are about to be reminded of it all around Greater Shepparton,” she said.
“Plenty of decorations will be going up around the municipality over the next two weeks, and we can’t wait to see them lit up and ready to get everyone in the Christmas spirit.
“Council is excited to be working with both our local primary schools and Kaiela Arts and we are sure our residents will be extremely impressed with the designs they have come up with for our present boxes.”
The decommissioning of Christmas decorations will occur during January 2021.
