With the return of limited indoor and outdoor dining taking place in Victoria, Greater Shepparton City Council is thrilled to announce the return of Fryers Street Food Festival for next year to be delivered by local event organisers Liz Connick of Your Project Partner and Jamie Lea of JL Productions.
The pair partnered up for the first time to deliver the 2019 food festival which brought together mouth-watering dishes and entertaining performances with 57 food vendors catering and four performing stages featuring local artists throughout the night.
The event is schedule to take place in November 2021 and Council will work with the event organisers to monitor the latest health and safety guidelines in the lead up to the event and will make the necessary decisions to deliver a safe event, postpone or cancel the event if needed.
Greater Shepparton City Council Manager Economic Development Anthony Nicolaci said it was a pleasure to see the duo take on the festival once again.
“Between them both they have extensive experience in event management and are passionate about showcasing all our region has to offer which was proven successful as last year’s event attracted more than 11,000 visitors attending across two days of activities,” Mr Nicolaci said.
“This year has seen our visitor economy industry hit hard with the restrictions on COVID-19 leaving our major events to reschedule and local restaurants and cafes to change their operations to fit COVID safe practices. Although we cannot deliver the event this year it is positive to see people return to indoor and outdoor dining in our region.
“We are excited to see Liz and Jamie’s creative talents return for the festival next year and to deliver a great community event to celebrate.”
Growing Greater Shepparton Business Marketing Coordinator Mat Innes-Irons said since its instigation five years ago it has grown to be a favourite event for locals and visitors to enjoy regional food, drink and entertainment.
“It is great to have Liz and Jamie present the Fryers Street Food Festival again in 2021 and you can be assured it will be a bigger, better and more diverse event than what we have seen before,” Mr Innes-Irons said.
Liz Connick from Your Project Partner said the duo would be working hard to present a Covid Safe event in 2021.
“We love nothing better than to deliver an event that showcases Shepparton and provides a unique experience. Therefore, we will be working hard to present an event where our community, together with visitors can feel safe to gather, share
and celebrate.”
Jamie Lea from JL Production and Hire said “If Covid has taught us anything is that together we can do better.”
“Fryers St Food Festival in 2019 was a huge example of that but we didn’t realise how significant it would be at the time.
“To anyone involved in 2019 please get in touch, we’d love to catch up and anyone thinking about it, don’t hesitate. It will be all hands on deck to make sure this event is everything it can be and more.”
