Riverlinks Venues is excited to showcase the first installation of the Riverlinks Art Wall.
Continuing the tradition of the SAM Drawing Wall, Riverlinks has transformed the long Eastbank foyer wall into a local mural for everyone in the community to admire and be inspired by.
Last night members of the community celebrated the launch of the first installation, created by well-known local artist Tank, with the work paying homage to the prestigious Australian National Piano Awards (ANPA). Inside the Sound is a celebration of the complex hidden mechanics behind the beautiful notes of the piano.
The launch saw students from Greater Shepparton Secondary College, Notre Dame College and Goulburn Valley Grammar School team up to celebrate this occasion.
The installation process involved local young artist, Taj Johnson, assisting Tank in applying the design to the wall, with the launch directed by local students including emcees Abby Hill and Maddy Deith and performances by Tom Cucinotta, Olivia Jackson, Kaitlyn Martin, Aditi Xavier and Chris O’Connell.
In the spirit of the theme of the installation, Melbourne based musician Timothy Chiang performed a short recital. Timothy is one of the entrants for this year’s Australian National Piano Awards.
Riverlinks Manager Ken Cameron said collaboration played an important role for the inaugural mural installation.
“We are excited to bring to the community the first of many Riverlinks Art Wall designs. This first installation was made possible working in partnership with Council’s Youth Development Services and many of our passionate local young people, it’s been a real collaborative effort.”
“The Australian National Piano Awards is one of the most prestigious awards nationally and being able to pay tribute that Greater Shepparton is host to this bi-annual event is very fitting.”
Greater Shepparton City Council Manager Community Wellbeing Melanie Holt said the launch was an impressive achievement for our local Young Champions.
“On behalf of Council, well done to all the students who assisted with and performed at last night’s launch, it was a wonderful demonstration of the talent, passion and drive our local young people, and we look forward to many other collaborative opportunities that will provide unique experiences for our community.”
Everyone is invited to view the Riverlinks Art Wall inside Eastbank which is open to the public from 10am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
The current design, Inside the Sound will be on the Riverlinks Art Wall until January 2022.
