Redevelopment works will begin later this year on the Maude Street Mall and Greater Shepparton City Council want to mark the important milestone by looking back at the space over the years.
To commemorate the occasion, Council is asking the public to submit their photo memories of the Maude Street Mall.
This could be photos of past events run in the Mall, different shops which have called the Mall home over the years, or locals and visitors enjoying the area.
The photos will then be collated by Council and used to help celebrate the commencement of redevelopment works, while marking the impressive history of the Mall.
“We really want the community to get involved and help us commemorate the life of the Maude Street Mall over the years,” Deputy Mayor, Cr Rob Priestly said.
“The Mall is a space where locals come together to meet, shop and socialise and it has been a thriving community hub for many years.
“With redevelopment works expected to start later this year, now is the perfect time to reflect on the Maude Street Mall and what it has meant for locals and visitors to Greater Shepparton.”
The photos submitted by the public will be on display in the heart of the CBD while redevelopment works commence.
Locals have until Monday 12 July to submit their photos on the Shaping Greater Shepp website. Photos can also be submitted in person by attending Council’s office at 90 Welsford St, Shepparton. One lucky winner will be selected at random to win a hamper filled with products from local traders.
“Once completed the newly developed precinct will be a thriving community hub for businesses, locals and visitors to enjoy,” Cr Priestly said.
“We are extremely excited to see works commence later this year, however we want to ensure the history of the Mall is recognised and remembered long into the future.”
